athletes in the media today. Thats where my question came to mind. Where are the women? In todays
world we never hear much about the women athletes we have as well and that is mind-boggling to me. I did
a little research and this is what the women in the world sports world today are up to:
At the 2005 Indianapolis 500 , Danica Patrick finished fourth - the highest finish ever for a female race-car driver. Some of the drivers, like Robby Gordon, claimed Patrick had an unfair advantage in the race because she only weighs 100 pounds, making her car lighter and faster.
Serena Williams serves the ball even faster than Andre Agassi on some days.
In 2003, Annika Sorenstam competed in a PGA tour against a field of male golfers but failed to qualify for the final two rounds.
Now these are just a couple points that i found but made me think of how little we hear about women and the sports they compete in. Could there one day be a women point guard for the NBA or a young lady doing the double backflips in the X-games. Just something to think about:)
Great job! It really is too bad that the media focuses more on men in sports than women. Do you think it is because advertisers are only interested in sponsoring men?
